I am in the first year of the PhD in Comp Lit, though I was previously an MA student in the program, so I am in my second year at the GC overall. I am generally interested in aesthetics, narrative theory, High Modernism, the Avant-Garde, and post-World War 2 literature. I work with English, Spanish, and German. I am very interested in the way that certain major cities (such as Vienna at the turn of the century, Zurich during the First World War, interwar Berlin, and New York at various points in its history) become international crossroads for artists, writers, and thinkers and sites of rapid cultural boom.
I personally have very little experience translating but am interested in learning. The only translation I have ever done was for an undergrad Old English class. I really enjoyed reading Lawrence Venuti’s writing on translation in my theory 3 class and am very excited to explore more in the world of translation both in theory and practice.
